Artist Statement

As a multi-disciplinary artist, my work centers around questioning the meaning of art and its role during a time of ecological collapse. My intention is to evoke a sense of environmental stewardship and healing related to ecological issues through my artistic expression. I create my art using natural pigments sourced from local plants, stones, and minerals. I see the colours as 'place-based ink' and that they carry the energy, essence, memory, culture, and history of the place it was sourced from. My work investigates themes of plant mythology, deep ecology and alchemy. Through my art, I hope to inspire a contemplative way of living in connection with ourselves, others, and the natural world.
